Duck The Halls? How About No
I went to Pieology the other day. Their new location at The Market Place in Irvine. As always the pizza was awesome; I have had Pieology before.
I came back a few days later with my Wife, a Friend and the kids. I was pleasantly surprised to know that Gregg, the manager at Pieology had remembered my name.
Amazing when you think about how many people he deals with daily. He only asked me my name once when I paid. And it wasn't even he who took the order.
That serendipitously prompted me to buy Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer on a whim; a book with the subtitle The art and Science of Remembering Everything. I'll come back around to a post review about it when I'm finished with it.
It's awesome, but that's not why I'm writing today. And this is not even about Pieology.
This is about the intrusion by corporations into our lives. See, as a marketer I am interested in the most effective ways of marketing. And believe me what I saw at The Market Place is horrible. They clearly don't understand tribes and attraction marketing.
I waited until after the new year to write about this because I don't want to be that curmudgeon trying to crap all over the holidays.
That's not me but it would be easy to think that's the case with this post.
I am not exaggerating when I say that what I saw there was horrible. In the entrance of the shopping area was a huge "christmas tree." I mark it in quotes because as you got closer you would have recognized it as a lie.
