Notagrouch Mixtape – June 16 – What is Hemiplegia Anyway?

One of the songs for this week's mixtape had this word in it, Hemiplegia. Kinda strange so I looked it up. And this is what Wikipedia says about it:

Hemiplegia /he.mə.pliː.dʒiə/ is paralysis of the arm, leg, and trunk on the same side of the body. Hemiplegia is more severe than hemiparesis, wherein one half of the body has less marked weakness.[1] Hemiplegia and hemiparesis may be congenital, or they might be acquired conditions resulting from an illness, an injury, or a stroke.

I didn't quite get it in the context of the song. The title of the song is Hemiplegia so here's my take on it. Whatever this is that she's going through is so dramatic and so overwhelming that it's paralyzing.

Eh. what do you think? should I be a counselor yet? 🙂

Anyway, the rest of the playlist is fun too. Like this cover of Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Strfkr. The playlist may seem strange but it's dedicated to a friend that always gives my wife her own version of a mixtape.

Every few weeks my Wife gets a CD from this friend with an awesome playlist. Most of the songs are indie or indie-pop, indie rock, and similar. So this week's mixtape is dedicated to her. She is very private so I won't mention her name but she knows who she is (Thanks I secretly listen to the cds too!). I found some cool indie stuff I like so I added it to some other favorites of mine to make an hour of blissful tunes to get your morning started this week.

Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you one more reason I like Spotify is that they have apps that you can use with your account. Like one called TuneWiki that plays the lyrics of the songs on the screen a little bit like karaoke style. Or another one to help you find similar songs and other apps.

Another song I wanted to highlight is In The Wake by Walking Shapes. I wrote about Walking Shapes the other day, this is one of my favorite songs by them so I had to include them. They're kind of indie so why not!
