I think that 2018 will be the year of the alternative social network. There's dissension in the ranks. People are mad at Facebook for censoring news. Twitter is banning people for expressing their opinions, and Youtube is demonetizing channels right and left.

Minds recently crowdfunded a million bucks, Gab.ai is fighting Google. Voat wants a piece of Reddit. And I could go on and on with the rest of new social networks that are competing for our mindshare.

So today, I would like to introduce you to Vidme.

Vidme is now dead. A few months after I wrote this post, Vidme announced they were shutting down and are now defunct.

What is Vidme?

Vidme is a new-ish video sharing platform. Some say Vidme is a mix between Youtube and Reddit, some call it the Imgur of video. But I see it as a video sharing platform, one of few that seems to have the basics nailed down and is gaining some traction.

Vidme describes themselves as a platform with one mission: To build the world's most creator-friendly video community. People are talking about it, and some of the features make it attractive to new and existing content creators.

Vidme has raised a little over 9 million dollars since 2015, it appears that they started with a seed of 3.2 million. Later on, they raised another 3.2 and just recently they raised an additional 6 million dollars.

I know there are other platforms that have been around for a long time that have challenged Youtube's dominance in video; and I intend to talk about those as well in a future blog post but for now, I wanted to cover Vidme and tell you about my own experience with it so far.

What's so special about Vidme?

Vidme has some interesting features that are intended to help content creators.

The strongest features attracting creators to the platform are the monetization options. While Youtube takes roughly 50% of the earnings from ads and the other part goes to the creator, Vidme has two main ways to generate revenue, and the lion's share of the revenue goes to the creator.

One such feature is paid subscriptions, the other one is tipping. They also have an ad revenue share program in beta right now, similar to Youtube's but with a 70% cut going to the content creator.

The platform used to be ad-free, but with the rollout of ad revenue sharing system, it seems that the ad-free experience is going away.

I don't mind ads except for the fact that about half the times that an ad was about to play, I was served just a black screen for a few seconds then the video would just start playing. Hopefully, it's just a glitch.

Show me the money!

Subscriptions start at $1.00 and work on a monthly basis; a subscriber can choose to pay a dollar or more each month to benefit the video creator.

Tipping works on a per video basis and the viewer decides how much to tip. Both of these options incentivize the creators to keep creating top-notch, relevant content.

Vidme takes a 10% cut of the revenue from those two options. This percentage split alone is a great incentive to join the site.

The only problem is that Vidme doesn't have the traffic that would allow creators to make a significant amount of money, yet. Hopefully, it grows more in 2017 and truly blooms in 2018.

There are some creators that have joined in from Youtube and have quickly received hundreds of subscriptions. But many of these are people that have over a million followers on other platforms already so many people are just following them.

Even so, Vidme is still fresh, and small allowing people like you and me to build a following there with little competition.

Vidme is also bouncing around the idea of having a merchandising system built in. No word on whether it will actually happen or when.

The idea of a merch store builtin to the system is innovative, but to me, it seems like out of the scope for a site like this, and I don't have a whole lot of faith in it. But it could work.

They have a sense of humor

Recently with the backlash that Youtube has been receiving, Vidme took an opportunity to take a jab at it with a promotional video. See below.

https://vid.me/KEnH

That's alright in my book. They capitalized on an opportunity and at least seem to be paying attention to what's going on over at Youtube. Now if we could just get a proper responsive embed for WordPress, that would be awesome.

So how big is Vidme?

When I emailed Vidme to get some current stats, they reported to me that they have about 25 million unique visitors "touching the product." I found that wording a bit interesting, but I'm guessing that it's just what we know as unique visitors. I was not able to find a number of creators or active creators, but if 25 million unique visits per month is accurate, then that's pretty damn respectable for a 3-year-old website.

I do have to wonder though, this same number has been reported for almost a year now. Are they being coy about their numbers or has their growth plateaued since December of last year? I'm not sure.

There's potential there, even if it's not without controversy.

I know there are lots of haters out there taking cheap shots at Vidme. I've watched the videos and read some articles.

But having the experience I have with startups, marketing, and product development, I think they are not giving the platform a fair shot. From what I can see, the "issues" some people like Eli the computer guy are complaining about are growing pains of a fast-growing company.

Most of the complaints seem like whiny rants that lack business insight. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. It seems that Vidme has been implementing changes as it receives feedback. They hosted an AMA on Reddit about 7 months ago where people got a chance to ask questions and give feedback. I think it's time they do another one.

Alexa reports Vidme to be in the top 2000 sites in the U.S. and it's climbing fast. It seems like it's about to cross that same mark globally. Their DA is a respectable 67.

It'll be a challenge to get under 1000, and even more so to get into the top 100. In contrast, Youtube is number 2 while Vimeo is at 94.

But I challenge any startup to get to 25Million unique visitors per month while hosting and serving video; arguably the toughest type of content to host and manage.

Why should you care about Vidme?

You should take a look at Vidme, create an account and use it for a couple of reasons.

They're a new company and new companies need support. Small companies need patronization from users because this is what keeps them viable, and in this specific case, it isn't good to have one single site dominate a total space as Youtube does.

When a company like Youtube becomes as big as it is, they start shaping culture, they start shaping thought, they become an entity that can control the media. They shape language, just like you "Google" stuff, people are "youtubers" and if you need to fix your broken washing machine, you'll "youtube" a video about it.

Youtube has fueled entire economic systems and with one change in policy, they can sweep it all away and drive people to lose a significant amount of revenue even if such outcome is unintentional, that's not a good thing.

It is especially disconcerting when you consider the type of issues Youtube is facing. Censorship, demonetization, and changes to the partner program status, are amongst the most notable problems bubbling up over there.

At the very least, you should try Vidme so it gets a chance to play in the big leagues. Maybe they'll fail, maybe they will be worse than Youtube. But if they don't get enough traction to prove themselves or hang themselves, we'll just never know what could have been.

I have faith that they can make it.

I think the timing is right, the product is good enough. That's not to say that there aren't some issues and needs for improvement, but that takes time and I think they're doing a good job at communicating with the users and working on improvements and trying new things.

If those reasons don't appeal to you, maybe I can appeal to your selfish nature and tell you that the site is young and open. It's not crowded yet.

From a practical perspective, it seems like it would be easy to have videos noticed and featured if you produce good content. Vidme is like an unexplored world waiting to be settled. A place where you can carve a nice little niche for yourself.

If you aren't a huge Youtuber already, it's refreshing to see that Vidme has very little competition within the site and thus you may be able to make a good amount of money in comparison to what Youtube has to offer.

And who doesn't like money? If you are already on Youtube, you can easily import your videos or just upload them to Vidme simultaneously. It would only take you a minute to fill in the title and description. Scheduling your videos in advance is available so that makes things easier.

Where can you find out more?

First, don't forget to follow me on Vidme. You'll find me as Notagrouch. If I haven't made it obvious yet, the site is at http://vid.me. Their own channel is here.

I'll be covering stuff about Vidme like I do for Youtube and other social networks here on my blog under the Vidme tag. And if you want to stay current with up to the minute news and discussions about it, the best place I found was the Vidme Reddit here.

Conclusion, TL;DR.

Vidme is a newish video sharing platform with some innovative features built in. Their goal is to help content creators by providing monetization features built directly into the platform. The site is growing and it has a little over 9 million dollars of funding. It's not crowded so it may be easy to carve a little niche and build an audience there as the site grows.

I'll write a little bit about using the site in a future blog post, but for the time being, you can find me there under Notagrouch. While I'm not leaving Youtube anytime soon, please join the site and follow me there.

Following up to my previous post where I told a student of mine to cancel their TV subscription, I want to talk about making your bed.

My grandma taught me to make my bed as a boy, she taught me to completely undo the bed, leaving only the box sheet in place. The one with the elastic. Then smack the bed with the pillow or the flat sheet a few times to clear any crumbs or dust or whatever might have fallen into it.

After that, I was to put the flat sheet back on, tuck the footer part under the mattress, fold and tuck the corners, then stretch it to the top, fold it down just enough so the pillows sit on the box sheet, then finish tucking the sides.

If it was winter, we would use a blanket as well. Then we'd top it off with the bed cover or duvet, finishing up with the same motions as the sheet without tucking in the bottom or sides, resting the pillows just a few inches over that top fold and then covering the pillows with the remainder bed cover.

She said this is how they do it in hotels and hospitals, "it's the right way." I never questioned that part, but it doesn't have any bearing on this story anyway, although I can confirm that the best hotels do this.

Another thing I didn't understand until well into my 20s was why do I have to make my bed? I'm going to undo it all again tonight. It seemed like a waste of time.

In my mind, it would be easy to just toss the sheets up haphazardly and cover it all with the bed covering; that takes 20 seconds. making the bed properly might take 2 minutes.

As a young boy and even a teenager, I had things to do, places to be, people to see, 2 minutes seemed like an eternity.

Eventually, I came around to the idea that making your bed was "just a good habit."

By the way, YOU should make your bed every morning.

So what bearing does this have on your success? How will this help you? Why should you make your bed?

You know I'm right about the part where I say that sooner than later, you'll be back in bed to undo it. You may even live by that idea right now. Like me, you may think it is a waste of time to make your bed every morning.

But here is the thing. Just like I told my student from the previous blog post, that her canceling of the TV cable subscription wasn't going to help with her unrelenting debt, making your bed isn't going to magically bring you more business.

That is, unless of course your business is conducted in bed which is a topic that doesn't really fit in this site, but I digress.

The real reason to make your bed every morning is small wins, low hanging fruit. Making your bed every morning helps with discipline, helps you start a routine, and gives you a small win. A small sense of accomplishment, it builds momentum to take on bigger and more crucial tasks.

What's next? Make that dreaded phone call, write your daily email for your readers, publish something on your blog. More wins. It's like starting your day off on the right foot.

If you start off your day without making your bed, you're starting off with a sloppy day, maybe even lazy and it can easily permeate to other parts of your day.

Another benefit is that even if you have a crappy day, at the end of the day, you'll have a nice bed to come back to.

If you think I'm crazy, watch this video which inspired this blog post. It's a video of Admiral William H. McRaven giving a commencement speech.

I've been fascinated with psychology since an early age; I enjoy analyzing why things are the way they are and why people do things. As a marketer, I know that the more I know about selling and how people make decisions, the better I will do.

I know I'm a salesman, everyone else is a salesperson too, some of you just don't know it, so this post should be helpful to you as well.

So I've been studying some sales techniques and methods. Today I'm breaking down a video I found that was extremely helpful and I think it might be useful for you if you want to improve your sales at skills.

See, selling is just about overcoming objections to convince the prospect that what you have is valuable and useful for them, today. Not tomorrow, not after they talk to their partner, not after they think about it, today. Now.

The first thing is to be sure and make sure that your product or service is, in fact, valuable and useful. Without that, even if you can convince someone to buy something, your results in the long term will be lackluster.

If you don't believe in your product or service, your prospect will feel it, and even if you sell it, you will have trouble sleeping at night, so don't do it. But if you know in your heart that the product is good, the service is good then the sale needs to happen.

Closing the Sale: 9 Common Objections by Brian Tracy

This video covers nine common sales objections. I've been studying this video and a few others on the same topic. I'll probably share those with you soon as well.

This video is by Brian Tracy. If you have never heard of him, you should learn a little bit more about him.

Before you watch this, and as you go through your own journey on learning to be a better closer, remember one of Brian's quotes:

Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?' - Brian Tracy

This reiterates what I mentioned above about making sure the product or service you are offering is going to help your customer. On with the video, a few notes after the video below.

The nine common objections and how to recognize them and deal with them effectively are listed below with timestamps.

The unspoken sales objection (0:24)

The excuses and impulse sales objection (1:03)

The malicious sales objection (2:00)

The request for more information sales objection (2:47)

The show-off sales objection (3:11)

The personal sales objection (3:54)

The factual sales objection (4:26)

The general resistance sale objection (4:58)

The last ditch sales objection (5:50)

The video is short and sweet and I wish it had some more guidance about the specific situations, but it's a great start. My main question is whether these objections have a relationship to each other, specifically I wonder if they come in a particular order.

Do you agree that these are the most common objections? How would you handle them differently?

We recently started a video a day challenge to help you do online marketing. It's quite simple. You make and publish a video every day for 90 days.

Many will start but only a few will finish. Will you make it to the 90 day mark?

If you're an affiliate, a blogger, a social media professional or regular business person I recommend you join the challenge. If you want to learn Youtube and Facebook video then you should definitely join.

If you have a limited marketing budget, you should also join in the challenge as this could be the best way to market anything on the cheap.

You are invited to join the 90 Day Video Challenge.

How does it work?

After you join the challenge, you are committed to publish one new video each day for 90 days straight. If you miss one day, you're out!

Who can join the video challenge?

Anybody that is willing to take up the challenge and improve themselves, learn something new and meet other like-minded people.

How do I join the challenge?

Do I have to be on camera for my videos?

No, you can make videos by creating slideshows and adding a voice over, you can make tutorial videos where your face isn't shown. There are many ways to complete this challenge without being on camera.

Is there a bounty or prize?

Not at this moment, but we're working on something. The biggest reward is the benefits that you get from completing the challenge; subscribers, experience, and more money!

Is there a penalty if you fail the challenge?

No, just your own feeling of defeat.

If I complete the challenge, will I become a YouTube star?

Probably not, but you can try.

Internet marketing time! I have a question from affiliates about niche competition.

It's a rookie mistake to think that it is better to try a business in a niche with low competition.

Find out why.

The post Affiliate Question.

I get this question or a version of it on a regular basis. One of my current students is stuck on this and I thought I'd answer this for everyone.

The short answer is NO, it isn't.

When you think you found a niche that isn't competitive, there is a reason why. Option 1, because there is no money to be made there, or option 2, the niche isn't developed.

Option one means that the niche exists but nobody is going to pay for products in there, or the products available are so low profit that it will take you years to make a profit. This is definitely not a place for beginners to go. I promise, you will quit and quitters fail.

The second option is great if you have the next five to ten years available for yourself and almost an unlimited budget to educate the people and market your product well enough for that niche to mature. If the first option is only reserved for experts, then this second option is the one that only bored billionaires should try.

If you watch this video, at least the first 6 minutes. You'll hear the same thing, and take it from an established expert, Jeremy Schoemaker aka Shoemoney.

I got a new email account I need to manage now so I thought I would take some time to show you one of my favorite apps for Gmail. Streak is the name, as in a streak of luck. Except this is no luck, you get to discover this awesome app because you are a visitor at notagrouch.com Don't miss the new updates, subscribe today.

Did you know you can add apps to Gmail? Well, if you didn't know now you know. You can in fact add apps to Gmail. The two I use the most are Rapportive and Streak.

Today I'm telling you about Streak. Streak is a CRM that sits on top of Gmail and it helps you manage your conversations. It's a CRM component that enhances Gmail. Find it at Streak.com

The way that it works is simple and it is better explained in video but I'll do my best at explaining it on text as well. When you decide to track the activity with one person or project, you can create a box that will hold notes, emails and other relevant activity.

You can review that activity at anytime, and this object, the box, can be moved along a sales funnel or recruiting funnel or any kind of funnel you want. Streak calls them pipelines. Enough of me talking, why don't you just watch the video. It'll make more sense.

You can find more about them at Streak.com and two features I want to highlight that you'll love about this app is the email tracking feature and the schedule for later feature. Really killer, really useful for running businesses online.

I am totally kicking myself you know where because I totally mis-scheduled some things recently and had to miss the premiere of the long awaited Living Dot Com documentary. I was invited to attend with John Chow who is featured in the movie.

This is a pretty good movie. I enjoyed watching it. The preview will give you an idea of what to expect and I highly recommend it. Totally worth it, watch the preview below, then you can watch it if you want instant download. It's how I watched it because I hast to miss the red carpet event! @#^($)#*. After that then I give you a little more expanded review and with some spoilers. Beware.

Living Dot Com Trailer (Official - HD)

Now, one cool little tidbit I can share with you is that I was there while they filmed John's part. John invited me over to watch and hang out, it was pretty cool actually. I'll dig up some pictures and maybe behind the scenes video. It was fun. But also a little revealing, after watching the movie, I know they had to cut out so much for the final product. Just from John's part along, they cut out at least a couple hours of footage. I can't imagine how much we missed from the other featured entrepreneurs.

Featured in the movie are:
Zac Johnson, John Chow, Jeni Larson, Peter Nguyen, Andrew Warner, Chad French, Dr Edward Leamer (UCLA). All of them experts in their fields and extremely successful and besides making millions of dollars online, not much different than you and me. Yes, I'm talking multi-million dollar successful. Some even in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Yeah, seriously. All the money comes from online marketing of sone form or another. Crazy.

Watch the movie here or download it for later. And here are some screenshots from the movie itself:

This is a quick post to share with you a very simple little program that I use almost daily. It is a very simple Automator script that helps you rename a bunch of files. It is a file renamer for Mac only. It's easy to use. You can download it here: file-renamer.

What is Automator? Automator is a very simple yet powerful scripting and programming tool available in all modern macs. It's job is to automate tasks very much like this one. If you have a relatively new Mac, you have Automator already installed so this download should work for you.

There are many apps on the App Store that can re-name many files at once, these batch file renamers cost in the range of free to $20 or more. But most of the times, you don't need all the fancy bells and whistles. Personally when I see a price tag of $20 dollars or more for something like this I get a little ticked off.

Shouldn't this be a part of the basic operating system nowadays?

It's one of those things that I don't quite understand. OSX and Windows AND Linux all should offer a way to rename many files at once with some basic control and customization. But they don't, so here's a quick and simple solution.

This little script does the trick for me and maybe will work for you too. Follow these instructions or watch the short video at the end.

Installation

Download the file

Unzip it

Double-click it

Install as a Service

Usage

Select a bunch of files you want to rename and right-click on them to bring up the context menu.

Go to the Services menu item

Select "file-renamer"

Chose the new name you want and any other parameters you want to change and then click continue.

All the files you selected will be renamed according to your rules. Note that there is NO easy way to undo this so make sure you really want to do this.

Uninstall

Go to your System Preferences Panel

Go to the Keyboard control panel

Select Shortcuts at the top and make sure Services is selected on the left.

Scroll down until you see the batch renamer and uncheck the box.

If you would like to completely delete the file form your computer, right click on "batch renamer" and select show in finder then you can just trash that file.

More info

If you want to check out the other options available, open Automator and open the file renamer script to explore the other options. By default, the script will rename the files in a sequential manner using the "new name" you provide and will append a 3 digit number at the end of the file, using dashes to separate the name from the numbers.

The main options really are about the way in which each file is renamed, but the other options can be handy as well. Add date or Time to your files, Add some text, change between upper case and lower case, or Replace part of the name with "replace text".

Under today's Neat Stuff I Found, I bring you my Foursquare Time machine. I am on the virge of ditching foursquare for good, but then my buddy Jeff Hester puts this up on his youtube channel. And all of the sudden I can't delete my Foursquare account.

There's just so much in there. And now, Foursquare comes up with this neat thing, Foursquare Timemachine.

And it brings back memories of good Foursquare fun, and badges and the dreams of getting rewards for your loyalty to your favorite spots. So I'm thinking I may keep using Foursquare for a while, although I haven't checked in anywhere for a while.

But anyway, this is what made me think about sticking around for a while. I love big data and I love what foursquare has done with our own personal stats to create this. This is useful, this is cool, this reminds me of using social media apps for fun not just business.

Lots of apps and services have a year-in-review type of service. With 2013 over and done with, I thought as I plan out 2014, that it would be a good idea to look back at some of the successes and some of the lessons to be learned, here are some of the apps and the stuff that highlights 2013.

I found a few things to comment on about and share with you.

Here's my WordPress report as done by Jetpack. Mind you this is missing about 6 months of data since I didn't have Jetpack installed the whole year.

Notagrouch.com in 2013 - by WordPress.com (jetpack) This is a cool active display of some intersting statistics about my website according to Jetpack, they're pretty cool and you can get your own too.

I found that personally I stopped checking in to places as much. Not so much for privacy reasons, but it just seems like nobody cares about check-ins anymore. And maybe it is just that we are over it here in the States. Look, globally, we only have one location in the top 20 checked in locations in Facebook. Is it just because we're outnumbered?

I'll still check-in occasionally to Foursquare or Yelp, but it is very rare. 2014, I will get back into it, there are always fans that stick around and maybe it's a little bit more organized now that initial wave of excitement is over and it's more mainstream. I hear a lot of changes coming for location based "stuff".

Also finally on Highlight, it took them a while to get it for Android so I had almost forgotten about. So far though I'm only finding stale data from people that got it and used it but quit using it. Most of their data is 10 months+ old.

On Twitter, here's my "Year in Review by Vizify" -- Mostly unedited, I just added a few more pictures & tweets to the standard one they're making right now. You can find them at Vizivy.com. or you can just watch the video:

Here are the highlighted points in the video:

The launch of Real Free Website

Dinner for my wife's Birthday

Image for my Evernote tutorial

I tweet about #OrangeCounty because I feature my favorite twitter people from #OrangeCounty

#30DBC is a tag used for my Blogging group in Facebook. But we haven't used it much recently. I will bring it back!

#WordPress of course, because it is awesome

Yup, I tweet almost 24x7 I do sleep occasionally, Seems like 2am-ish is when I tweet the most when late.

Vine of my awesome daughter @WaterClaire at about 5 months old

Turns out I'm an introvert... and I knew that somehow because breaking out of my shell into a social outgoing person you meet at events has been a struggle for me. More here at 23 Signs You're Secretly An Introvert.

At the Pageant of the Monsters, thanks to @TedNguyenUSA!

13 Stories that Made Your Day and Broke The Internet.

With my Wife hanging out and I'm wearing my #FLFOC t-shirt

A tweet about podcasting. Basically don't sweat it, Get WordPress, add a couple of plugins, record your podcast, done!

Another shot with my daughter.

My Top 3 Followers... this reflects the past few months only. @MadHungryWoman, @JohnChow & @LivinLime - Thank you guys!

And my top "Golden" tweet, a tweet about Video Genesis, a product I promoted and made me a whole whopping $0!

In general all my numbers (raw numbers) grew significantly. Also my business grew to new levels and continues to grow. This is the focus for 2014. Thanks for hanging out, don't forget to subscribe or follow!

You could say that I really enjoy living the Dot Com Lifestyle. Not having to be tied down to a job or a schedule lets me do a lot of things that I like to do. This is one of my favorite things, riding my bike with my dog.

It is safe to do this because I do it when everyone else is at work, so there is virtually no traffic or anything to bother us while we ride the streets in Irvine. Hope you see one more benefit of running an online business where you get to have time, location and money freedom. Until next time, cheers!

I'm not a big country music fan, but once in a while a song will come along that I really like. I've got one of those songs stuck in my head. It's got a good melody to it, it's catchy and clever and it has a very important message that applies to you.

This is the part that really strikes a chord with me:

You're damned if you do
And you're damned if you don't
So you might as well just do
Whatever you want

That's not how most of us were raised, to do "whatever you want." But that is unfortunately how the world works. Someone is always going to judge you. It's in our nature to judge others based on our perceptions. Doesn't this bother you? Perhaps it bothers you like it bothers me, but I bet you do it once in a while too. So what can we do about it?

I would do as Kacey Musgraves says: Follow your arrow wherever it goes.

Say what you think
Love who you love
'Cause you just get
So many trips 'round the sun
Yeah, you only
Only live once

When you start on a new journey, you'll find that many people will judge you. They'll tell you what you "should" or "should not" do. Often times, this "advice" is based on their own fears and insecurities and they simply want you to be fearful as they are because that will justify them. Forget that!

You must do what gives meaning to your life, what makes you happy and what brings you joy. For you can't really make others happy if you aren't happy yourself. If you believe in something... follow your arrow wherever it goes.

What I really love about this song and about Kacey Musgraves (besides the fact that she's cute) is that it isn't' just a song, she literally followed her arrow. You can learn more about her in this "getting to know Kacey" video. You can tell that she followed her dreams and she was lucky to have a supporting family. But even if you don't have a big support group, you must follow your dreams and pursue it. 'Cause you just get so many trips 'round the sun.

And if the straight and narrow gets a little bit too straight...

Rise and shine. This is no time to dwell on how far you've come.

"Rise and shine.
6am and your hand can't make it to the alarm clock before the voices in your head start telling you that it's too early, too dark, and too cold to get out of a bed.

Aching muscles lie still in rebellion, pretending not to hear your brain commanding them to move, a legion of voices are shouting their unanimous permission for you to hit the snooze button and go back to dreamland, but you didn't ask their opinion.

The voice you've chosen to listen to is one of defiance.

A voice that's says there was a reason you set that alarm in the first place. So sit up, put your feet on the floor, and don't look back because we've got work to do.

Welcome to The Grind!

For what is each day but a series of conflicts between the right way and the easy way,
10,000 streams fan out like a river delta before you, Each one promising the path of least resistance.
Thing is, you're headed upstream
And when you make that choice, when you decide to turn your back on what's comfortable and what's safe and what some would call "common sense", well that's day 1.
From there it only gets tougher.
So just make sure this is something you want.
Because the easy way out will always be there, ready to wash you away, all you have to do is pick up your feet.
But you aren't going to are you?
With each step comes the decision to take another
You're on your way now
But this is no time to dwell on how far you've come.
You're in a fight against an opponent you can't see
Oh but you can feel him on your heels can't you?
Feel him breathing down your neck
You know what that is?
That's you...
Your fears, your doubts and insecurities all lined up like a firing squad ready to shoot you out of the sky
But don't lose heart
While they aren't easily defeated, they are far from invincible
Remember this is The Grind

The Battle Royale between you and your mind, your body and the devil on your shoulder who's telling you that this is just a game, this is just a waste of time, your opponents are stronger than you.
Drown out the voice of uncertainty with the sound of your own heartbeat
Burn away your self doubt with the fire that's beneath you
Remember what you're fighting for
And never forget that momentum is a cruel mistress
She can turn on a dime with the smallest mistake.
She is ever searching for that weak place in your armor
That one tiny thing you forgot to prepare for
So as long as the devil is hiding the details, the question remains,"is that all you got?", "are you sure?"
And when the answer is "yes". That you've done all you can to prepare yourself for battle THEN it's time to go forth and boldly face your enemy, the enemy within.
Only now you must take that fight into the open, into hostile territory
You're a lion in a field of lions,
All hunting the same elusive prey with a desperate starvation that says VICTORY is the only thing that can keep you alive
So believe that voice that says "you CAN run a little faster" and that "you CAN throw a little harder" and that for you, the laws of physics are merely a suggestion.

Luck is the last dying wish of those who wanna believe that winning can happen by accident, sweat on the other hand is for those who know it's a choice, so decide now because destiny waits for no man.

And when your time comes and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you you're not ready for it, listen instead for that lone voice in decent the one that says you are ready, you are prepared, it's all up to you now.

So Rise and Shine.

This video is great, not only do you see the majesty of this big cat, but you also get a glimpse at the logistics that need to take place for a video like this to be made. If you pay attention, the first 1.8 seconds of the cheetah running take almost 2 minutes in real-time in the video.

This amazing slow motion video shows you all the muscles and motions of the cheetah. It is just mesmerizing to watch, then you realize the timeframe is just under 2 seconds, and you'll be amazed. The video then cuts into other shots and towards the end there's a small behind-the-scenes clip. All in all, the video is about seven minutes long, but worth watching.

Cheetahs are the fastest runners on the planet. Combining the resources of National Geographic and the Cincinnati Zoo, and drawing on the skills of a Hollywood action movie crew, we documented these amazing cats in a way that’s never been done before.

Using a Phantom camera filming at 1200 frames per second while zooming beside a sprinting cheetah, the team captured every nuance of the cat’s movement as it reached top speeds of 60+ miles per hour.

The extraordinary footage that follows is a compilation of multiple runs by five cheetahs during three days of filming.

You can find their website at Anchor Steam.

From their website:

Anchor Steam® Beer derives its unusual name from the 19th century when “steam” was a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. While the origin of the name remains shrouded in mystery, it likely relates to the original practice of fermenting the beer on San Francisco’s rooftops in a cool climate.
