What started as a free-speech, censorship-free, privacy-based search engine has caved to the censorship demands, and is now censoring and altering search results based on their own bias, or the requests of government bodies. It’s time to move on to another search engine that doesn’t try to hide information.

Alternative search engines you could try:

  • Qwant – French-based, seems ok so far.
  • Startpage – Does the job.
  • Brave Search – Brand new, kind of sucks but it’s a start.
  • Neeva – Private, uses freemium/paid model. Bias/censorship is yet to be determined.
