Cheer Cheer for Starbucks!

If you haven't been living under a rock, you should know about the "controversial" Starbucks cups. Apparently some people didn't like them, they thought they were offensive. WTF? offensive? A thought written in a million cups? Offensive? what a bunch of horsecrap. There is nothing offensive about the comments printed, if you haven't read them, here are a few for your enjoyment:

"Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for the power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure."

That's one, here's the other:

"Heaven is totally overrated. It seems boring. Clouds, listening to people play the harp. It should be somewhere you can’t wait to go, like a luxury hotel. Maybe blue skies and soft music were enough to keep people in line in the 17th century, but Heaven has to step it up a bit. They're basically getting by because they only have to be better than Hell. -- Joel Stein, columnist for the Los Angeles Times."

As an ex-Christian, I found the first one personally enriching because I believe in finding the answers and not having them handed me down from an ancient book. The second one is just funny and should be taken lightly since it is obviously trying hard at being someone's joke at a $5 comedy show.

To anyone that found these offensive. Get over it, Starbucks has made a stand and says they will stand by their program to get people to talk. These people that complain certainly don't deserve much more than a wtf-is-wrong-with-you-sigh from me, but I do have to say that they actually are making the Starbucks campaign a successful one. People are talking, complaining, talking, mostly complaining... but there is some dialogue going on and that's whats important.

To the people that have nothing better to do than complain about petty things like this... Instead of complaining that it was offensive to you, think about it. Reflect on it and if you so wish, respond to it. Complaining is just like a little girl going home to mom to cry. Boohoo.

You claim to be a Christian, You are supposed to strive for god-likeness... Is your God as weak as you portray him to be? Would he be offended by free thought? by comments made by "mere humans"? Think about it? you are whining about someone actually using their --by your views-- godgiven gifts of thought, intelligence and wonder.

Let people wonder and discover, be a part of it or get out of the way, but don't whine, or complain about things like this. It is petty, and there are so many other things you could be concerned with.

To Starbucks. I am glad that the cups are staying for now. People should get over themselves.
