The weekly webinars from Long Beach Network for Health provide presentations from national, state, and local subject matter experts speaking on a variety of topics related to EHR Adoption and Health Information Exchange. Each web-based seminar includes an oral presentation hosted via a conference call, accompanied by a slide presentation hosted via a web browser. The series will focus on the ever developing eHealth activities of Southern California. Join national and local subject matter experts as they discuss the changing landscape of health information technology and health information exchange The third speaker of this series is Laura Kolkman, President, Mosaica Partners. Laura Kolkman is the founder and president of Mosaica Partners, a nationally recognized consulting firm that works with states and regions through the four key phases of health information exchange: conception, formation, operation, and optimization. Mosaica also provides advice to a wide range of hardware, software and services firms considering entry into the health information arena. Laura brings over two decades of experience in Health Care, Information Technology and Consulting to the HIE landscape. Ms. Kolkman is a Registered Nurse who also holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science. In addition to 10 years of health care clinical experience, she has over 15 years experience in IT. She held technical and executive management positions in several national and global organizations before entering the consulting field in 2004. Ms. Kolkman was the FY 08-09 Chair of the HIMSS Health Information Exchange Steering Committee where, among other duties, she was actively involved in preparing the HIMSS briefing paper on the subject of health information for the (then) incoming administration of President Obama. She is frequently quoted in the press about challenges and developments in HIE and has published many articles on subjects related to Health Information Exchange. Recently she spoke at the HIMSS Annual Conference where she presented on the topic of "Achieving Health Information Interoperability by Leveraging the Economic Stimulus." She is also currently under contract with HIMSS to write a book on forming and operating and HIE. The book is scheduled to be released at this year's HIMSS Annual Conference.
